Things You Can Do
- Listen to people’s stories and try to understand their experiences
- Read books by authors who have a different perspective than yours
- Visit civil rights museums, historical sites, memorials
- Visit a house of worship of a denomination other than your own
- Subscribe to recieve All Together emails and don’t miss an opportunity to participate in book discussions, dialogue circles and lectures that expand your understanding of diversity
- Speak up when you think you see someone being discriminated against
- Don’t make assumptions about people, instead be willing to ask questions
- Forgive someone for their ignorance
- Be respectful and be honest with yourself
- Volunteer with an organization that serves diverse populations
